Hi,

Been having issues with my windows 10 machine since this morning and have spent the best part the day trying to fix it

It started with me noticing my audio was not working and is indicated by a white cross within a red circle next to the audio icon in the toolbar

When I try to troubleshoot the issue the trouble shooter runs for about 5 seconds then I get the error message 'Scripted Diagnostics Native Host has stopped working' and I am forced to close the troubleshooter

Further from this the majority of the Microsoft stock programs such as Microsoft store, calculator, file explorer, control panel, etc. either do not open at all or do not open properly

Additionally, in settings, under windows update, and update status it says that updates are available but no matter how many times I restart my machine they do not install:

• Definition Update for Windows Defender Antivirus - KB2267602 (Definition 1.269.268.0)

Status: We're having some trouble downloading updates. Restarting your device may help.

• 2018-03 Cumulative Update for Windows 10 Version 1709 for x64-based Systems (KB4088776)

Status: Awaiting restart

And I have a warning message of: 'Your device is at risk because it's out of date and missing important security and quality updates. Let's get you back on track so Windows can run more securely.' with a restart now button just below, but when clicked it only restarts my machine without installing the updates

I have performed:

- A disk check (CHKDSK /R) which came back with no issue

- Multiple system file checks (sfc /scannow), from the first of which I received the message 'Windows Resource Protection found corrupt files and repaired them' but then only received 'Windows didn’t find any integrity violations' thereafter

- DISM restore health (DISM /Online /Cleanup-Image /RestoreHealth)

- Starting the computer in Clean-Boot state with virtually every Microsoft and third-party driver and program disabled

However, none of these actions performed seemed to make any difference, and my problems persisted

Lastly I attempted to restore from a recent restore point but received the error message:

'System restore did not complete successfully. System restore could not access a file. An unspecified error occurred during system restore. Temporarily disable your antivirus program and retry. (0x80070005)'

I received this error message again even after uninstalling Avast and Malwarebytes

I'm almost at a complete loss of what to try next short of a complete clean install of windows, which I don't particularly want to have to try. So any further help would be greatly appreciated
