Windows 11 My friend experiences frequent crashing on his HP EliteBook and was wondering if it was due to any malware?

My friend, who uses a HP EliteBook, was writing an essay today during class and Word consistently kept crashing while he was writing it, and he had to start over multiple times. His laptop has been incredibly slow recently and he finds it harder to work on. Today, when Word crashed one of the times, it displayed an error message: "The instruction at 0x00007ff... referenced 0x00000... The memory could not be written. Click on OK to terminate the program". I was wondering, as he may have been exposed to some malware recently, if that is the cause or if it is due to corrupted system or registry f
