I have been POURING OVER FEEDBACKS and 100's FORUM QUESTIONS for 2 weeks(ready to BLOW UP my F-ING MACHINE ...FULL RESET DIDN'T WORK it hung up at 45% for 24 hours and had to stop it) and I accidentally stumbled onto this THREAD (THRILLED) I followed this Thread because It was FINALLY going to address the ISSUE I HAVE BEEN HAVING FOR 2 WEEKS NOW... WITH ADMIN PRIVLEDGES (I'm LOGGED IN as the ADMINISTRATOR and Everything I try to do It says I need to have ADMINISTRATOR PRIVLEDGES ) I GET TO THE END AND THE THREAD JUST STOPS.....with NO ANSWER... WTF MICROSOFT? I'm SOOO UPSET!!! ....I actually Did CRY.....I Miss 7 .... I was informed that because my machine is an HP i7 quad core that came with Windows-10 pre-installed it is NOT POSSIBLE to install Windows 7 (from a 7 INSTALL DISK...It CANNOT BE DONE...It would not WORK properly ) over IT is that true.... Discussion Install/Uninstall Admin Privileges and Windows 10

In so far I'm enjoying the Windows 10 experience. A few tweaks to the GUI and I'm fairly happy with it. What I've been very annoyed about, and I've been hearing this has also been a big issue with Windows 8, has been privileges. For about a month I didn't have any issues. Then, all of a sudden (and I don't think there was an update), just before the new year iTunes started kick back that it wasn't installed properly and there wasn't a procedure entry point in the DLL folder. Thinking it was just the program, I tried to reinstall, but Windows Installer threw a 2503 error code.

After doing some easy searching, it looks like it was a permissions issue. After checking all settings within the Install program, running the install program as admin, unregistering and reregistering with the server, double checking UAC as being off, and checked to make sure my user was part of the admin group the install program still wouldn't work. Finally, I enabled the Admin user and logged into it. No issue. So, obviously is a UAC issue. Just on the off chance that it would work I closed explorer and launched it with admin rights. Windows Install program ran just fine.

Okay, so maybe it was a glitch with iTunes installer. This is a technical preview after all. No. It wasn't just with that program. If I want to install or uninstall ANY PROGRAMS in Windows 10, I HAVE to run Explorer as admin or log into the admin account. It doesn't matter anymore. Windows Installer will always throw a 2053 error. This is THE MOST ANNOYING thing I have run across so far. One simple search of 2053 brings up plenty of results of others who have this issue (more in 8-8.1 than 7, but sometimes in 7).

I can tell you right now. If this kind of an issue doesn't get fixed, or a solution is found, I will NEVER buy Windows 10.

This issue has not changed in Windows 10, although I do think that Windows 10 is 1000% better than Windows 8.1. The desktop is so clean and fast that I'm thrilled that Microsoft has condensed and reorganized everything. If the installation issue is your only reason keeping you from updating, I would rethink it. Good luck.

Many of my windows 8 items are drastically changed especially asking for Admin privailages which I nevwer had problems before.

My DVD player was screwed up.

UAC errors are very irritating, yeah.

a proper installer (I've written one) would check for this, prompt you for a password, and happily elevate itself and continue on.

you should contact Apple and let them know that they need to fix their windows installer. that might be all it is.

If the problem does NOT happen on earlier versions of windows, however, it's Microsoft's fault for BREAKING THE CONTRACT with the application developers regarding installation utilities, etc.

so yeah

let's get HONEST in alt.comp.os.windows-10 on USENET, where there are NO mods

After downloading Windows 10, I lost all my privilages to even save a photo from internet to the Pictures default folder in my computer. I tried everything, and allowed myself admin privilages, but nothing worked out. This is really disappointing.

My advice to Windows: Keep Windows, and enhance it instead of trying to copy others. This won't work !!! First thing I'm really thinking about at this moment is to switch to iOS. after being with Windows since it was found !!

Windows 10 is extremely NOT user-friendly !! too bad to deal with, and too slow to deal with. Even Vista was easier to deal with when released to the consumers, but was as slow as Windows 10.

What to do ???? I don't know !!

How do I login with the admin account? All of my Windows 7 admin accounts that were migrated to windows 10 do not have enough priviledges to do any admin actions.

I bought a new computer in early September. Downloaded Adblock and ended up with basic Yahoo Email with a statement that it could not recognize my browser. Long story short--I did a factory reset. Which resolves all kinds of issues in very short order. Now it says I do not have "Administrative Privileges". More annoying than anything else. I can still access the computer, use the computer, and change things on the computer--but how do I get "Administrative Privileges"?

On the whole, Windows 10 seems a whole lot better than Windows 8 or 9.1. That Charm thing was a real pain in the butt--to put it mildly.

But I do NOT like 'Edge' one single bit. It is not user friendly, it seems to be just one more obstacle between the computer and the owner. While it says, I can do a whole lot--drawing on the web page, cut / paste etc.--those are things I do NOT need to do with a web page. Microsoft Edit was really great for saving articles etc. Really handy.
