Windows 7 My laptop is stuck on the 1024 x 768. Help.

So on my Windows 7 laptop, my resolution is stuck at 1024 x 768. I was on Task Manager and by mistake closed a process called explorer.exe. It removed the taskbar and made all of my desktop apps disappear. After I restart the computer it is gone but then my resolution switches from 1280 x 720 to 1024 x 768. On the resolution panel, it shows nothing else and I cannot make a custom resolution. Please help.
