Windows 8 My shift key is working and also the number 9 key is working but I cannot get open bracket key while pressing shift+9, Why???

My shift key is working and also the number 9 key is working but I cannot get open bracket key while pressing shift+9, Why??? I gets closed bracket when I press shift+0 but I don't get open bracket. Why is it so??
