I have viewed and to a large degree followed all of the various instructions in the various posts on how to resolve this.
I have recently even re-installed Win10 Home for an unrelated issue.
I set my screen saver (which worked fine until about 2 or 3 months ago (- yes, I've been trying to figure this out for months!) to 3 minutes, with no hibernate, no HDD power downs and no screen off (I recently added that to see if that would at least work - it doesn't) and, still NO screen saver!!
My adjacent Windows 7 PC works fine and ALL (yes ALL) of my Linux based machines have zero issue with screen savers (I know that doesn't have anything to do with it!, this one would be Linux if I didn't need a couple of apps that aren't available on Linux ..YET!).
There are literally, thousands of people pointing out that their screensaver etc. stopped working after an update (going back a few years as well).
I realize that with all the new technology that screen savers are fundamentally unnecessary, but I've always used the '3d text' because it removes the glare from the screen when apps are left open. I have 6 computers most are Linux (thank heavens) so having the glare reduced helps to remove visual interference when I am on one of the others. I also tried to set the 'switch monitor off' because the screen saver didn't work, ha! that doesn't work either!!
I checked the updates and as usual, it says 'up to date', I press the button, because we know that MS doesn't always 'push' updates all of the time and it says no updates, or security this or security that.
I was using Win 7 for the longest time and I have no recollection of anything even remotely similar to this happen! Seriously, what is going on??
I did the checks, tests, installs and everything else that has been suggested on the various forums..
What next?
Win 10 Home 64bit
Version 2004
