Windows 11 New computer has both a microphone and headset jack, so I bought a splitter for my single cord headset. But I can hear myself through the headset.

For example, if I get close to my headset's microphone and breath, I can very clearly hear my own breathing. Muting my mic removes it so I know it is coming from my own headset. I have used a single port laptop and it works fine with that, so that is why I think the splitter I am using is causing this. Any tips or help other than just buying another splitter or dealing with the problem.
