Windows 7 No battery is detected

So i was using a Toshiba laptop with new battery and when i plug it in the orange led wont lit up, however i was in the taskbar and saw “No battery is detected and it shuts off when unplugged however the battery is inserted when i plug it in the white led near the plug lits up checked the battery and it was inserted
