Windows 11 No programs will run after Windows 11 update

Last night I chose to update my pc on shutdown and this morning no programs will run -- some get the message 'this app can't run on your pc' and others talk about missing or damaged files. For example Adobe Creative Cloud prompted me to try to repair it and then failed saying 'repair is failing due to some error'.I'm using Windows 11 home, version 23H2.Updates that installed last night:2024-08 Cumulative Update for .NET Framework 3.5 and 4.8.1 for Windows 11, version 23H2 for x64 (KB5042099)2024-08 Cumulative Update for Windows 11 Version 23H2 for x64-based Systems (KB5041585)NVIDIA - Display
