Windows 11 Performance issue with my Hp elitebook 840 G5

When i got this laptop it was fairly quick and didn't use to hang and was pretty smooth, but suddenly it has started to hang and the performance seems very low in comparison, even while having it connected to power. is there anything i can do about it? thank you
