Windows 10 Photos app won't play audio from recorded videos

I am having a very frustrating issue where when I open a video recorded by my dashcam in the photos app it doesn't play with audio (tried windows media player as well, doesn't work). When I open it in VCL it plays with sound so it isn't the dashcam at fault. The files my dashcam saves in are MOV.
