Windows 10 Power query stumbles at the step of expanding a table due to .ini file

My power query system has been working well until now. I get this message in the step of expanding the xlsx file. "An error occurred in the ‘Transform File (2)’ query. DataFormat.Error: External table is not in the expected format. Details: desktop.ini". The ini file has been filtered out in an earlier automatic step but is halting the flow of the query now.
