Windows 11 Prevent This PC from Automatically Expanding

When opening File Explorer in Windows 11, I found that This PC was automatically expanding in the Navigation Pane on the left even though Expand to open folder was not selected.I had the same problem if I selected This PC with a right click and opened it in a new window.I searched for a solution and could not find one that made any sense. However, I think I have stumbled on the solution, quite by accident.In the menu bar across the top of the window I clicked on the three dots to the right of View and scrolled down to the bottom of the window that opened.
