Windows 10 Printers unavailable drivers and print spooler stopped after windows 10 update?

I have two printers connected to my PC. HP 3520 (I use to scan) and a Canon Pixma ix6850. For a long time I have managed to avoid loosing my printer connection after the very annoying Windows updates, by simply reverting to a previous version of Windows 10, as I guessed my software was not compatible. But alas this time I accidentally missed the 10 day window at which I could have reverted. Since then, as I expected neither printers have worked even though I've done a fresh reinstall of them both.
