Windows 11 Quick assist stuck on trying to reconnect to previous session

I was attempting to assist a friend with computer issues he was having using quick assist. He is running Windows 11 Pro and I am running Windows 10 Pro. We are both updated to the latest quick assist app (the one that makes you grab it from the store). Quick Assist was working without issue and then during the session I initiated a reboot using the app. His system rebooted and I left quick assist open on my computer so it would reconnect after he logged back in (as I have done 1000x before without issue).
