Windows 11 Reformatting my laptop or deleting files without being deleted in my other laptop. I use onedrive.

I would like to delete files on my old laptop locally but still remain on my other laptop. It happened before that whenever I deleted a file locally, it also got deleted on my other laptop. I use onedrive. How can I solve this problem? I am also planning on reformatting my old laptop but all the files that are synced on onedrive might be deleted on my other laptop too as it happened before when I tried to delete a file from this laptop. Please help.
