Windows 10 Repeated Blue Screens of Death after Windows Updates - HP

I purchased a HP notebook (model 15-g048ca) in 2014. It's old but because it hasn't been used much, it was running fine - till a few months ago when I did a Windows update and the laptop booted to "Boot Device Not Found". I followed the steps on this video and enabled legacy support, which solved the problem...but since then there have been several more Windows updates and my laptop is freezing or going into the blue screen of death so many times.


There was another update few days ago after which it again went into boot device not found and I again labeled legacy support and there haven't been blue screens since then, but it does freeze sometimes. I very rarely had blue screens or freezing just some months ago before these updates.


I was going to attach minidump files but when I opened the Minidump folder, there were only two files and neither had any content (0 bytes).


My Windows version is Windows 10 Home - 1809 - 17763.379


PS what exactly does enabling legacy support do?
