Windows 10 Seagate external HDD: photos retrievable after MacBook backup?

Seagate external HDD. Had pictures & videos stored on it using PC transfers. Family member used the drive to backup their MacBook. Are all the pictures & videos erased? Or are they still there? Cannot see the drive in Explorer when plugged back into PC.
