Windows 10 set up 4k tv as second monitor via hdmi. windows reverts to duplicate image after i've selected second display only - windows 10

like title post. ive set up my 4k tv as a "second monitor" via hdmi (my main monitor is display port) so i can watch films/youtube/etc on the sofa. it all connects fine on windows 10 and after i 'Windows key' + 'P' and select 2nd screen only and main monitor turns off, but as soon as i use any input via mouse or keyboard main monitor turns itself back on and windows reverts automatically to duplicate. how do i get windows to just display on "2nd monitor" without duplicating, even though ive told it to not duplicate. once im back on main screen it stays as 1 screen only, exactly how i want it t
