Windows 11 Speakers and headsets don't work in Google Meet

My speakers (Realtek) on my Asus laptop (Aspire 5 Spin 15) will not produce sound on Google meet. This is not an issue outside of Google Meet. I have also tried a headset with a jack and a headset with a USB. When I test the speakers it starts and then cuts out. The second time I get a short distorted sound and finally nothing at all. I'm so confused.
