I was browsing the internet when I attempted to open an new tab add a new site. A alert came up saying that my computer was infected with Spyware and asked me to call a number 844-395-6252 so I could get the necessary steps to remove the spyware.
I assumed it was a scam when I called the number and I did not receive the usual "this phone call is being recorded for training purposes" and when I announced to the person that I had immediately disconnect from the internet she didn't say anything. She then asked me to take action by using the "run" with iex , that's when I didn't let her finish and stopped her. When I questioned her how could I guarantee she was a Microsoft employee she toldme to google her name. So I assumed it was a scam and hung up immediately and closed the windows.
I ran the security software and nothing was dictated. I also deleted all my temporary files just in case. ran a disc clean up. My question if my computer is infected would the Microsoft security software show any virus or malware or spyware?
thank you.
