Yesterday I upgraded my Windows 7 to 10 (finally). While the update seems to have been successful I am having one issue, my text to speech isn't working. When press the test voice button in the Windows 10 control panel under Speech, the text is highlighted, one word at a time, as it would normally except there is no audible speech. All other Windows sounds appear to be working correctly. I have selected the playback device as my Sound Blaster Z card. I tried installing the UK voices butt those don't play either. I get no error messages. I also thought I heard some faint mumbling when one of the voices was supposed to be playing. Possibly noteworthy, I had the Speech SDK 5.1 pack installed in my Win 7. After having this issue after the upgrade to 10 I installed the Speech SDK 5.1, and then ran SFC /SCAN now, which said if found some corrupt files and repaired them, as well as a DISM /online /cleanup /restorehealth, neither of which fixed to problem. In there a way to reinstall the text to speech engine for Windows 10? Everything else seems to be working and a fresh install is the very, very last thing I want to do.
EDIT: I went into the old skool control panel and when to the text to speech section. When I test the voice in there I can hear it, but it extremely muffled to the point of being inaudible. The only playback device I have selected in my Soundblaster card which is working fine for all other sound, loud and clean. I then went into the properties for the output device which is set to Sound Blaster Z. I noticed it was set to Surround 5.1 so I set it to stereo because I'm not using a 5.1 surround system. Set speakers to Front Left and Right like I used to under Win 7 but same thing, still all muffled, like it's trying to play through a surround system with the wrong main speakers selected. Any advice would be appreciated.
