Hi there,

I noticed a change in internet speed a month ago. I was playing a game when a power surge happened. I think it was due to my power plug being slightly loose. Not sure if the slow internet was due to that incident, I think it became slow before the power surge. After messing around trying to fix the internet, I realized that my internet speed was slow and the signal being weak (throttling between 3 bars - 4 bars out of 5) when connected to my WiFi (note the modem is right beside my computer so I should be getting strong signal). Once I disconnected the WiFi and connected to Ethernet, the speed returned to normal. However, I would notice my Ethernet losing connection around every 30minutes-1hour. I would have to use the troubleshoot to repair it and it would say "The Default Gateway is not available" with a checkmark indicating it being fixed. Then of course I would continually lose connection and use the same method to repair it over and over again. Today, however, the troubleshoot didn't repair the Ethernet connection and instead it showed "a network cable is not properly plugged or may be broken," forcing me to connect to WiFi. I am so confused on what's going on, I factory reset my computer a couple times and it did not fix the problem. I checked all my cables to see if anything was loose, nothing. I tried the WiFi through my laptop and the signal is fine and strong. My drivers are all installed and updated. I am thinking perhaps my hardware or something is failing?
