Windows 11 'The operation you selected will convert the basic disks to dynamic disks.' What does this mean?

I plugged in an external hard drive but it shows 2 disks in the software. Now i want to merge the 2 disks together using disk management and extend one of the disks. But it has given me a warning which i do not know the meaning of. I have llinked 2 images, one showing the warning and the other showing info on the 2 disks i want to merge.
