Hi,

As background, I am attempting to connect to a mobile broadband suppliers ePDG for voice over WiFi

I am having trouble setting up a generic windows 10 VPN that uses IKEv2 and EAP-AKA authentication.

I see kb2840793 in windows 8 says this method can only be applied to mobile broadband connectors by design.

Is this still the case for win 10?

I have tried with both WiFi and Mobile Broadband connection for the underlying IP connection to the outside world and it makes no difference.

When I attempt to connect to the VPN with EAP-AKA authentication selected, I get the message "No valid SIMs were found - To continue insert a SIM"

(I have also tried changing the authentication to Microsoft Smart Card, which resulted in the message "Insert a smart card")

So I tried putting a mobile sim into a smartcard reader, but that appears in the device tree as an unknown smart card:

I also tried changing the device driver to one of the built in Identity Device drivers, but that made no difference.

So I can only conclude that although a mobile phone SIM has authentication capabilities, they are not exposed in a generic way across different types of smartcard.

Do I require a Windows 10 Smart Card Mini driver that supports authentication via a phone SIM?

Does such a driver exist?

Thank

Jon C
