Windows 11 Trying to understand how to use widgets under windows 11

I am trying to learn about using widgets under windows 11 from a text I have purchased called "Teach Yourself Visually Windows 11" but have noticed some inconsisgencies between the text and what is displayed on the screen. Specifically the text says I can display the "Widgets Board" either by clicking on the Widget icon on the taskbar or by pressing the windows and w key simultaneousely. The second method works but I do not see the Widget icon on the taskbar. Similary the book says to add a widge I should press on the button "Add Widgets" on the Widget board but I don't
