For the past few months, my computer has been having these catastrophic freezes and crashes that results in my having to shut down my computer. These typically occur at whenever I start up or exit a program, such as a steam game or a web browser, or I click a certain icon and even though the screen is frozen I can still hear audio in the background from a video I was streaming. Other times the screen just goes black as if the monitor itself has become disconnected. At first I thought it was my BIOS which was pretty outdated for a time but I'm still having issues despite updated both my BIOS and GPU. Though I'm not completely sure if this is a software issue or a hardware one since when the screen goes black it sometimes makes a bizarre clicking noise as if the cord has been pulled out. My GPU is a NVIDIA Geforce GTX 960. My PSU is an ITE IT8772E. Voltage is at 3.144 V max.

Thanks for your time.
