Windows 11 Visual Studio working, but says it can't be installed

I have Visual Studio installed and working on a new Surface PC. The problem is that I keep getting an alert from VS: this program can only be installed on a version of Windows designed for x64 architecture. Is the Surface not x64?Why is VS working if it can't be installed?Could it be some python - or other - program that I installed alongside VS?
