Windows 11 Volume control in task bar does not adjust airpods headset Windows 11

I typically use my air pods at work and when I connect them via Bluetooth to my laptop, they connect, but I cannot adjust the volume via the task bar. I have researched and researched, but nothing has worked.I have microsoft 365 and Windows 11
