Windows 11 "we couldn't find a fingerprint scanner compatible with windows hello fingerprint" error message on my Gateway laptop.

The fingerprint scanner stopped working a few days ago. I went to the device manager and noticed the Biometrics device is missing. How can I get the scanner working again?
