Most comments about laptop heat lead to suggestions on how to clean out dust and elevate the machine to keep it running cooler. My question is not about how to prevent but why heat happens intermittently, that is, once in a while. I can run it for hours with it barely warm, no fan going, even while streaming video for hours. Once in a while with no apparent reason the area in the middle of the laptop close to the lid gets very warm. I can't remember but maybe the CPU is in that area. I am guessing it gets 120 F to the touch on the bottom near the cooling vents. I think there is some heav
