Windows 10 When i try to remove my microsoft pin, it says my password is incorrect. How do i solve this?

I have recently reset my pc, and i have been unable to remove my pin on startup. This is driving me crazy. I enter my password which i KNOW i used for my microsoft account to remove my pin, and it says "unknown username or password". I could not find anything on this topic no matter where i searched. please help.
