Windows 11 When trying to verify get "An illegal state change was requested"

When trying to verify through account settings on my PC I get "An illegal state change was requested" The error says: Windows Security, We couldn't sign you in, my user name, my email and "An illegal state change was requested"I updated to Windows 11 no help. My internet access is working fine. I have restarted my device. I can access my microsoft account on the web on the same device. I have tried resetting my password and that didn't work. I have no needed updates. How do I make this error go away?
