Windows 10 Why am I locked out of my laptop?

My laptop has locked me out. It’s saying my PIN is currently unavailable band to use my password instead. I set up that password years ago and haven’t a clue what it is. I know my Microsoft password but that doesn’t match my laptop password. How do I fix this ?
