Windows 11 Why does explorer.exe memory size keep growing on my idle laptop (Windows 11)?

I been having issues with my Dell XPS laptop running Windows 11 2H2. I leave it powered on usually with only a Chrome window open. Lately the task bar has become unresponsive after a day or two. By unresponsive I mean the start button and search window open up blank, no program icons, search fails to work. I can restart explorer.exe to recover so I started leaving a Task Manager and Resource Monitor window open to see what was happening to memory and found explorer.exe starts around 100MB after being restarted but over a couple days grows to 1GB.
