Windows 11 Why does notepad open my most recent document in addition to the doc I want?

A little while ago I changed one of my notepad docs - which I keep on the desktop - to "always keep on this device" (vis a vis one drive). Every since, when I open a notepad document, it also opens my most recently opened document; in other words, it opens 2 docs: the one that I'm trying to open and my most recently opened one.This is annoying! Anyone know why or how to fix this?Thanks!
