Windows 11 Why is my windows defender all messed up (see attached image). major portion of the app is greyed out in full screen.

the windows defender app is working normally but it appears weird (only half of the portion is visible) the other half is greyed out. how do i fix it? they grey area adjusts itself to show all the text and doesnt go away even when the window is not maximised.
