Windows 10 Why is One drive affecting my files?

I noticed I was not able to see the thumbnails for my pictures, initially I tried troubleshooting the viewer settings but realized that it only happening to files that were not synced to OneDrive. I tried clicking 1. View>Always show availability status. 2. Pause syncing for OneDrive. This resulted in me being unable to even open files that were not previously synced to OneDrive. I undid the settings I changed but I still have the issue of not being able to open the file.I don't care if my files are synced to OneDrive, I just want to be able to see and access all my files without OneDri
