Windows 11 Why is the Windows 11 File Explorer less capable than the Windows 3.1 Explorer?

Why is the Windows 11 File Explorer less capable than the Windows 3.1 Explorer? Why is it impossible to modify the view for all folder types? Whatever happened to the "Apply View" command in previous File Explorers? Why does Microsoft force me to spend at least 30 seconds whenever I want to sort a folder containing music files of different formats by file extension?
