Windows 11 Why isn't my microphone working? (Sort of)

I'm having a problem regarding my microphone. It doesn't matter if it's an external microphone, or the built-in one. The only applications that can hear anything coming out of it are Camera and Voice Recorder. Not even Chrome acknowledges that anything's coming out, despite me screaming into every hole in this laptop. I'm doing this on Windows 11, but the problem was occurring while it was Windows 10, and I've already tried messing with the audio settings to the point where I can hear myself in the headphones, but it still doesn't work.
