Windows 11 Win11 Microphone Privacy Settings not working

My work laptop got updated to Windows 11 last night and it has this new "microphone privacy settings" in the taskbar that lets me mute the mic. The problem is...it doesn't do anything.I have it muted; when I hover over the icon it shows "Muted: Microsoft Teams", but people on the teams call can still hear me unless I mute in Teams as well.
