Windows 10 Windows 10 back up options

Recently my PC locked, and would not recognise my pin nor Microsoft log in password.These were checked on a second computer to be valid.Finally did a clean install Windows 10, as nothing else worked.All ok now.Ran a complete new back up to a removable hard drive, ticking Administrator (user), drive C (OS) and drive D (data).Also included a system image.My question is, next time I run the back up, should I still continue to use those settings, or will I be duplicating and wasting time. as the full back up took over 2 hours.
