Got a new laptop with Windows 10 Home (OEM_DM) license. I have understood details about the upgrade to Pro from MS Store, which is pretty straight forward. However, I am not clear on the following:
- While the windows 10 home is OEM_DM type license and thus non transferable, what is the type of license that will be issued for the windows 10 Pro upgrade from MS Store - OEM (non transferable) or full retail (transferable)?
- The laptop comes with windows recovery partition with WinRE and also restore partition from the OEM. Now:
- I assume that the WinRE will be suitably upgraded with the win10 pro upgrade so that recovery from within windows will reinstate a fresh environment of Win10 Pro instead of Win 10 Home. Please confirm.
- However, if I restore using the OEM partition, it will do "factory reset" to Win 10 Home but still I would be able to upgrade using the similar upgrade process but directly using the upgrade issued key or public key. Windows will be able to activate to Win10 Pro automatically even if the SLIC is for Win10 Home. Please confirm.
- Please do not see this question strictly in relation to the upgrade. Thus, in general, for full retail keys - I understand that the license key should be uninstalled from current laptop first and then I would be able to use it on another computer. However, what is the process for transfer in case of stolen laptop, damaged beyond useability like burnt due to fire - basically which will not give an opportunity to the licensee to uninstall from previous laptop?
Thanks a lot.
