Hail!
Now, since MSWindows v1.x under MSDOS (It was 1985, I remember it well, it was on a floppy. 1! floppy.), I am a somewhat happy user.
Over the years, I've had some good experiences (some early versions, The 3.x series, 95 (though quite unstable), the 98 Second Edition, The ME, The XP x86/x64 (One of the better, I do not get how people had such problems with the 64-bit, I NEVER had an issue, and ran this for years), the Win7 (which, IMHO, was THE best version ever!!!)
And I had some serious dissapointments: the unofficial 97 (95 Second Edition), the 98, The Vista, the 8/8.1, and the recent 10.
NOTE: I always had the Professional/Ultimate/Corporate Editions, I simply do not believe in half programs.
It's about the 10 I want to talk, and ask a few questions.
The further we go from Win7, the more and more I feel we get screwed over, and lose control over what once was a bloody awesome and useful system.
From Win8 on, they began to take the Power out of Power User, restricting more and more options, restricting more and more tweaking.
Win7 x64 Ultimate was, for me at least, extremely tweakable, it was truly POWER in Power User! Using amongst one the GodMode, I did things that were quite amazing), but all this began to fade once the 7 was replaced with Win8 and later.
In Win10 it began by (for me, that is) removing the Task Bar.
Excuse me?
This was Windows.
ALL there ever was, was in that simple bar, it was THE operating part in the whole.
And it's gone?
Later, they placed it back, finally, with a half-working one that missed about all the most needed options: Link Menu Control Panel, Link Menu Administrative Tools, things like this.
Seriously, if you work with computers the way I do, then this is a GROSS oversight/"Corporate sabotage" (do note the quote marks, it's just a figure of speech)!
But it did not stop there: They began to "secure" many options, removing the Power out of the user.
More, they began to actually take control over your system, you're no longer the master in your system!
Too many systems to even begin listing "sabotage" me, and 3 of these are annoying me beyond anything.
Home Network, Windows Update and Update Auto Restart!
In the past 2 weeks I have lost days of work on my system, just because I no longer am in control.
Now, I have done several things, like totally killing off the updates in the Windows Update Center:

Kill off the whole thing in Local Group Policy Editor:

Removed ALL Tasks in Task Schedular, Windows Update:

I also changed a few register settings, but, none is to ANY avail: The frikken system keeps dropping me after 1 hour, for an Update Reboot.
Funny, Once I am idle, then the system would wait for an hour to restart, but for some moronic reason, it does not detect my continuous activity allover the computer.
I do not understand why...
About the Home Network: In the time that I run Win10Pro x64 (over 5 computers, this machine is the Server, the other four are Users, but we all run identical OS with identical updates), I added them now like a two-hundred times, and each time, they simply lose every setting, and cannot be either accessed again (requiring authentification and the lot, though EVERY time this has been set up as not needed, for all users and myself, "so we could access one another without restriction". But not really, is it, MicroSoft?) or are simply not found, requiring me to AGAIN set up the system which fails.
Now, I wonder what happened with the Home Network System, it has become increasingly unstable past Win7?
And Win7 was a bloody marvel, also with the Home Network Setup!!!
Add TCP/IP and off you were.
Share drive, like a password?, no?, Good, move on to next PC.
Now all became so **** complicated that even Windows itself cannot follow anymore.
Why is that necessary, I wonder.
And so, my 3 questions:
1) Network: How can I set up a decent, WORKING home network that won't again lose all settings?
An external networking system is not unwelcome, but it has to be extremely reliable.
2) How can I EFFECTIVELY permanent choke the life out of Update and Auto Restart?
Since, this is simply not doable, it costs me FAR too much time to a) lose all data, and b) reset the system (I do not use SSD, since far too small still).
3) How come, my machine doesn't see I am actually ACTIVE, and not IDLE?
Is there a fix for this?
Thank you...
