I have a windows 10 pro product on my computer since windows 10 became available. It has a key from when it was 8.1. Since that time I've had hard ware failures or software failures in which windows 10 became de activated. I have had no trouble getting it reactivated through Microsoft support or calling the phone number to check product ID and then re activate this original operating system on the original hardware. My recent attempt to get this done after my motherboard failed and then replaced with the same brand and model motherboard has met with resistance for the first time. I have never purchased a windows operating system directly from Microsoft. The purchase has always been included with a new computer. I have three computers that all have windows 10 pro listed in my account but the employee I spoke to checked my key and said it was not valid. I told him I know that's why I need it reactivated the system deactivated and should easily be re activated because it is on the same hard drive that it was originally installed on. The product key is obsolete by now. He went on to give me grief about not purchasing directly from microsoft and then said if I don' t have purchases listed and this was a hardware change then I would have to buy a new windows 10 OS. I told him I've never had to do this in the past and asked if this is a new policy change. He claimed he had worked at microsoft technology for over 5 years and was certain I could never get this OS re activated again. I asked to talk with a supervisor. He left me on hold for 45 minutes, not checking back with me until I felt I lost enough cell phone minutes and gave up. In the past I've never had a problem getting a supervisor who immediately fixed the problem. Suggestions please. Has something changed?
