I have been using the file archive bit for decades, since the days of DOS and through several versions of Windows, as a backup scheme that has worked extremely well. However, after "upgrading" to Windows 11 last December, I have found that the archive bit is not working properly, often being set when a file is merely opened but not modified in any way. This can affect any file type, but it does not always happen.
