I recently installed Windows 11 onto a drive that had an old install of Windows 7 on it. This was a fresh install rather than an upgrade; i.e. I booted from the Win11 install DVD. My old files were initially preserved in the Windows.old folder. However, I soon noticed that the amount of empty space on the drive was suspiciously large...and increasing. I poked around to see what was going on, but by the time I realized, it was too late. The entire Windows.old folder was gone. -I know that Windows is supposed to auto-delete Windows.old after some number of days, but this occurred *immediat
