I began receiving windows not genuine and you may be a victim of counterfeit software months ago. I purchased this computer several years ago. Toshiba laptop preloaded with windows 7 professional and microsoft office enterprise. I have the sales receipt and the service work order for set up...i was told by both microsoft and toshiba that i had the wrong software for my laptop??? How can this be??? This was purchased at our local staples store....we have been recognized as authentic windows for years!! Microsoft told me it did not matter they would just upgrade me to windows 10........they had been trying to upgrade anyhow for months I discovered without my knowledge or consent.


Initiall we did not want windows 10. Then we decided to take the upgrade as things were getting so crazy we were afraid we would end up without vital updates and we need this computer for my work, my daughters academics. We are down to one computer right now.


Our computer nightmare really began on July 7, 2016 when I called microsoft one evening about these annoying pop ups. Ever since this call there have been a series of calls invoving mostly microsoft but also toshiba, google, samsung as this has impacted my connections devices etc....as well as numerous remote access sessions with microsoft. July 7 the microsoft agent kindly offered to help me........would i let him have remote access to my computer...of course...its microsoft...i trusted them.........he brought me into my service window where my OEM # was with an option to activate now. I said am i supposed to do something with that??? He said i needed my product key if i had a desk top it would be on my tower??? he knew i had a laptop!! Never said to look under it. I was tired, it was late. I did not know what he was talking about..started to look for my hard copy folder in my desk for my paperwork when I remembered the sticker on the bottom of my computer. I picked my laptop up and the ac adapter slipped out.. we lost our remote connection.............I need a new battery the laptop only runs if its plugged in..........sooooo it was very late i was so tired went to bed....next day went on the computer and discovered while i was trying to find my product key, which by the way from what I have now learned I don't think would help me anyhow, to see i was put on a countdown by microsoft..and apparently my product key has been flagged as not genuine???


This started a back and forth between microsoft and toshiba.........microsoft said toshiba blocked my key......toshiba said microsoft did???? My question here is what are they all talking about????


Yet another microsoft agent said she would do the download of windows 10 it did not matter about my activation??? During this download...not the first one but it was the most significant as we almost lost our computer.....the download was not successful something happened during the shut down phase. Again just like July 7 no one called me back. I had fallen asleep around 3 am during the last download it was taking so long. Woke up windows 10 download not successful.....but this time i had major issues.......blue screen.......system kept shutting down i had to get into safe mode....i lost my graphics driver..if you asked me what a graphics driver was before I would have told you I had no idea.....same as a product key...these were things in the remote regions of my brain that I may have heard about or graphics could maybe guess but would not need as I am not an IT specialist!!!!....Also, our microsoft word was scrambled......it took me hours and hours days and days about a week before i was somehow able to save our computer and stop it from shutting down everytime we tried to turn it on......sometimes we would get it to boot start working then suddenly it just shut down.......it was so very scary.......now we were afraid to have the windows 10 update and afraid not to!!


I am not the only one who did not know what a product key was. In fact all 4 of my daughters only 1 lives at home still none of them ever even heard of a product key and they are all successful business women. Of course two have macs but the third since all of this happened just bought a mac because of all i have been dealing with microsoft.


Where was I?? Im sorry its all just been so overwhelming, all consuming....so much of my time....who has the time for all of this???..time is money and everyone thinks you just have time to sit at the computer for hours and hours...the most recent events this week microsoft has offered to change my software to windows home edition.......isn't that nice??? I have windows professional and have for years!! SP1 32 bit. But, at least this person seemed to want to help me. But still I did tell her I was afraid to giver her remote acess as so many have taken liberties to make changes on my computer with no discussion or consent to do so. The microsoft agent before her did system restore and then left the remote session. Probably because I blocked the WAW.....I thought this was about preventing people from pirating windows??? I clearly have not done this!! But, now I feel like I need to protect myself from microsoft!! They created a pirate!!!


I went in and did a system restore myself after he did that but then I changed it back. I am legitamate!! I want to have my windows authenticated!!! What are they doing all the time we are waiting during remote sessions anyhow??? Why do they do things we cannot see?? That is so very wrong!! I still cannot believe though I told her i no longer trusted microsoft. I asked her if i give her remote access promise me you will not touch or do anything without my permission that i know exactly what you are doing. But, they all say they wont then they do stuff you cannot see. She did send me links for the windows 7 "downgrade" as well as windows 10 download. I do have the windows 10 assistant on my computer and from what ive been told if you had already attempted windows 10 upgrade before the deadline and it failed you can still have the upgrade. If i had been told I could make a disk I would have done that but anyhow.......


The other night I was compulsively trying to figure out why my computer is showing not genuine and how can i fix this.......I was looking in my Toshiba file and found the diagnostic tool for Toshiba. I ran it.......it clearly states windows professional service pack 1 is my product has my toshiba laptop serial number and other data!! What the heck is going on here??? Toshiba did not tell me the truth!! They said initially the same thing microsoft did. That the OS I had was not compatible with my laptop!!!!! Toshiba wanted to charge me for remote access to help fix this mess and also offered to send a recovery disk i would have to pay for. Also two different occassions Toshiba offered to remote access to fix the problem but would charge a fee. I told them why would I do this??? Microsoft will help if i downgrade??? And Staples who has been awesome by the way.......no conflict or assumptions that I pirated my software, they said no problem and offered to reload the software. At least I will have the same OS. I would much prefer to not have to do a clean install. Also, would prefer to do this from home. I am not an IT person. Why is this all so complicated??? I have had to learn things I never should have to learn. When you come to see me for clinical evaluation I do the assessment etc. I do not sit you down with technical jargon and expect you to figure out the inner functioning of your mind and body to self diagnosis and then treat yourself!! Microsoft expects everyone to be experts on OS and if you do not produce the answer quickly enough you are deemed illegitamate!!


...well through all this i have learned enough to ask a few questions. Like what about my recovery partition? No one has addressed this. I found it through research and playing with my computer. Wouldn't that be the best thing to do??? I think I can even do it without losing my data is that correct???Does anyone know? And, why didn't microsoft check my system, or suggest I do, to see what software was installed.....seeing as they took so many other liberties.. nevermind toshiba...I am even more afraid of them than i am of microsoft. They told me i had the wrong OS too for my laptop????? Then when I had asked microsoft to help with my laptop COA number as 2 digits are smudged they said I needed to ask my computer manufacturer so I did...surprise..........toshiba wanted to remotely access again.......for a fee of course. Everyone wants to remotely access my computer.....by the way Toshiba failed to tell me the sticker is a microsoft sticker isnt it??? can they even help with that?? I am so confused!! In the middle of our conversation I said wait a minute.....you cant help with this can you? Its not your sticker is it??? UGHHHHHH!! He said so what is it you want from me? Well he was right!! other than why did you tell me I had the wrong OS nothing except I used to love toshiba products but will never purchase another!! When I refused to let Toshiba remotely access my computer I was elevated to his supervisor....I told him the same thing. I don't trust anyone anymore what do u need to do or tell me what to do. They said oh your computer will crash you are in a very bad situation you need our services an experienced computer technician. I said experienced computer technicians got me into this mess. Toshiba this time said the OS system is correct. That is only because i told them i had the pc diagnostics I had run. The same for microsoft. For now I declined Toshibas help.


Also no one ever gave me a copy of any MGAdiag reports I see Microsoft has been running. I tried to open one and I can't. Probably my ignorance but again.........why is everything so complicated......when I was in corporate america I used to tell our associates any issues we have should be seamless to the provider!! I remember the days when if I wanted to print I just hit print!! Now I need to choose Png, or jpeg or pif or pif/A on and on. We consumers should only have to hit the button and viola!! Why is it so hard to get information regarding my computers functioning.... product keys so many people I have read about, including me, legally purchased. I know I don't own the OS but I, we, did buy the right to use it!! I am so tired of having to spend any free time I get and time I don't have running to my computer trying to fix this and so many times having to reload my printer, fax, scanner, microsoft word, google syncthru, figure out what graphics card I need, do I need media tool creation and what is it??? Oh my goodness it never ends!! I really miss having an AA and an IT Dept I can call! Oh and I would also love to get rid of these annoying pop ups, which I will if I have to but really hope someone out here can, will, help me. I will add my MGAdiag??? My toshiba pc diag report i will not add at this time as it has my serial number and stuff!! I don't know can someone pirate off it??? UGH!!


Also the error code for windows not accepting my product key is 0xC004E003. Product key already in use??? Of course its in use!! Could it be because I was using it!! Please excuse my ignorance to so much of this but really it should not be this hard!!


Oh great!! I just ran my own MGAdiag report and it won't let me copy????.........I had to mail them copy them which was no easy feat and moreeeeee time!!! OMG! I apologize for the poor quality. Thank you to anyone out there that takes the time to read this...hope this is the end of the windows 10 upgrade product key nightmare! For us anyhow!!


Oh...one more question...why is everyone at microsoft asking for my coa?? From all i have read that only means I purchased a genuine copy of windows..is that right? "Only" if I was not so desperate that is funny..it should mean something but it does not prove my product does it?? What I mean to say is my system came preloaded so can someone tell me what good is the product key on my laptop then??? And if a product key is so vital.........why is it so hard for people who bought genuine windows to find???
