Windows defender claims malware was quarantined but my accounts were still compromised, should i take further action

i foolishly downloaded a malware, im sure it was a trojan and windows defender quarantined 4 of them. I did all types of scans and they all came out clear. Over the next few days i noticed my social media accounts were compromised as well as 1 credit card and my amazon account. I changed the passwords to my financial accounts and finishing up the rest of my accounts.I downloaded norton and and also did a scan. I cleared my temporary files in safe mode but now im too scared to sign in to my accounts on my computer.Why did windows defender claim they everything was ok?did the malware only have a
