Windows Defender Quick Scan takes 10 hours to finish, doesn't start automatically, and scans too many files

For the first couple years or so, my laptop ran the Windows Defender Quick Scan on its own in the background and it took 5-10 minutes to finish. At some point lately, the scan hasn't started on its own anymore, but the yellow alert on the taskbar icon warns me that too much time has passed, and I have to do it manually.But the worst problem is that Quick Scan now takes waaay more time to finish. Here's a sad example.At the moment the laptop runs quite well, at a glance it doesn't look like it has any major problem.I'm desperatey trying to solve this one though, by googling at random.
